FAQ Outback eDrive

Q. How long does a hydraulic install take? A: It should take a first time installer an average of 4-6 hours depending on hydraulic knowledge.

Q. My machine feels like there is no power steering or it won’t turn quick enough. A: It is probably because either your load sense shuttle is installed incorrectly or because you have the pressure and tank valve hoses switched around.

Q. My eDrive turns the opposite way it is supposed to. A: Either your valve cables are switched or there is a malfunction in your Outback eDrive console. You can try switching the two valve cables on the hydraulic block. If that doesn’t fix this problem you may call the Customer Service at 800-247-3808.

Q. Why is my S present light blinking or not on, on the Outback eDrive console? A: First, try restarting your Outback eDrive console and the S, S2, or S3 console to the reboot settings. Next, verify proper cable installation. If that does not work call the Customer Service for further assistant.

Q. How often should I have to change my oil flow? A: There are many factors that can affect your speed on the oil flow. First of all, you need to dial your hydraulic block in at oil operating temperature. Speed can affect the Outback eDrive, the faster your ground speed, the faster the oil flow needs to be. Also, if you are operating in contour guidance, the vehicle will demand more oil flow. Once the oil flow is properly set, changes may be required depending on hydraulic demand by implements in use.

Q. My machine won’t turn left or right after I installed the hydraulic kit. A: Verify the pressure and tank lines are not switched.

Q. My machine snakes through the field, or my machine is very jerky. A: If it is snaking through the field you need to turn your oil flow up, if the machine is very jerky you need to slow down the oil flow.

Q. My machine won’t disengage by turning the wheel. A: Make sure the steering wheel switch kit is installed correctly. The sensor must pulse across both magnets.

Q. My machine will not auto-engage. A: Make sure the auto-engage is turned on in the Outback eDrive Setup.

Q. How do I get my eDrive to automatically engage? A: Go in the eDrive setup menu on the S2 and navigate to auto. Enable auto-engage by pressing the arrow buttons to on. Press enter, press menu to go back to the guidance screen. On the S3, press the steering wheel button located on the bottom of the screen, press the auto button under the Auto-engage section.

Q. My Auto Engage feature is turned on, but I still have to push “ENTER” every time I turn around. A: In order for the Auto Engage feature to work, you must be sure that you only push the enter button once when you begin. If you are using Straight Guidance, be sure to push the enter button once at the end of your pass to set your B point, and once after you turn around to begin your second pass. If you push the enter button once more to begin your third pass without letting the Auto Engage feature take over, you will have to push the enter button for every pass until a new AB line is made.

Q. After engaging the Outback eDrive, it will only stay engaged for only a few seconds and then disengage. A: First, unplug the steering wheel switch from your ACC port and see if it works. If so, check to see if your steering wheel switch sensor is either too close or magnets are not 180 degrees apart. If unplugging the ACC port does not work, call customer service for further instructions.

NOTE: Make sure the face (where the cables plug in) of the Outback eDrive console is running parallel to the frame of the machine facing to the left, and is sitting level in the cab.
